The reflective component of the psychological culture of future educational psychologists and its development in the learning process

Abstract

This article presents the results of a study examining the development of reflexivity in future educational psychologists during their university studies.

The relevance of this research topic stems from the fact that reflexivity is one of the most important characteristics of a modern professional, as it enables individuals to engage in self-knowledge, introspection, reflect on their own experiences, and foster professional growth and self-development.

The purpose of the study was to examine the dynamics of the development of the reflexive component of students' psychological culture during their university studies.

The empirical basis of the study was a sample of 150 students enrolled in the Educational Psychology program at Alikhan Bokeikhan University.

The study was conducted from 2021 to 2025. The initial assessment of students' reflexivity and psychological culture was conducted in the second semester of their first year (2021-2022 academic year), and a repeat assessment was conducted in the first semester of their fourth year (2024-2025 academic year).

The «Methodology for Determining Reflexivity» by A.V. Karpov and V.V. Ponomareva was used for diagnostics. The results were processed using statistical methods (descriptive statistics, boxplots, Shapiro-Wilk test, and Wilcoxon signed-rank test for related samples).

The obtained results confirmed the hypothesis of positive dynamics in students' reflexivity during vocational training.
