Abstract

Currently, there is a wide spread of artificial intelligence in various spheres of life and professional activity. In this regard, there is a need to study how people perceive and interact with these technologies, as well as the factors affecting their trust. This article presents the results of a qualitative study of the perceptions, fears, barriers and expectations of Kazakhstanis associated with the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies. The main research method is a focus group. The study involved 32 people grouped into 4 focus groups: university students, university professors, school teachers, and medical professionals. The results showed that the majority of respondents are aware of the potential of artificial intelligence tools. However, the participants expressed some ethical and existential concerns. The study presents a diverse understanding of artificial intelligence among students and specialists in medicine and education, which combines recognition of the practical benefits of these tools with certain technical, social barriers and distrust. This article expands existing knowledge about the psychological features of human interaction with artificial intelligence and the perception of its capabilities and limitations in solving professional tasks.
