Psychological characteristics of orphaned students addicted to gambling

Abstract

The article substantiates the problem of developing gambling addiction in individuals who are excessively fond of gambling. The factor of excessive passion for gambling leads to the destructive development of consciousness in such an individual. In modern psychological research, the problem of gambling is given special importance due to the widespread recognition of the destructive impact of gambling on the psyche, consciousness, and personality. The article is devoted to the study of the psychological characteristics of students - orphans - addicted to gambling; students - orphans are the most vulnerable category, subject to massive social negative influences, along with the presence of social and psychological problems, as well as the lack of proper social experience in students - orphans. The purpose of the study is to determine the psychological characteristics of students - orphans addicted to gambling, as well as to develop recommendations for the prevention, psychological correction, and overcoming of gambling addiction. Scientific significance of the study: the work identifies and characterizes the psychological characteristics of students - orphans addicted to gambling. The article reveals the content of behavioral and social determination of the emergence and development of psychological dependence on gambling in students - orphans. Practical significance of the study: based on the obtained results, practical recommendations for preventive work with students - orphans susceptible to psychological dependence on gambling have been developed. Novelty of the study: a psychological analysis of the phenomenology of involving young people in gambling has been carried out, leading to the emergence and development of various forms and states of gambling addiction. Research methods: - "Addiction test" (M. Murto, I. Nimel); - self-actualization questionnaire (A. Maslow); - adapted characterological questionnaire (K. Leonhard - G. Shmishek); - situational and personal anxiety scale (C. D. Spielberger - Yu. L. Khanin). Theoretical significance of the study: - social determinants and psychological characteristics of the personality of students - orphans prone to gambling have been experimentally identified and characterized; - The relationship between the nature of orphan students' gambling tendencies and the relationship between objective and subjective determinants of individual gaming activity was revealed; - Temperament types characteristic of gambling addicts and non-gambling addicts were identified in relation to individual psychological manifestations of situational and personal anxiety. The study's results are recommended for practical use in educational institutions and orphanages during the socialization of orphans.
